Q: Are you a Ramblers Group or a Meet-up group?
A: We are one of the 13 groups within the Kent Area of the Ramblers. The Ramblers is the national walking charity. We use Meet-up to advertise to a wider audience and recruit many of our members this way.
Q: What are the benefits of joining the Ramblers
A: You will be supporting the national strategy to help improve the public rights of way network and to lobby the Government on walking related issues. There are 20,000 national volunteers who lead walks, work with councils on Public Rights of Way, and help manage the local groups and county areas. You have access to a library of walking routes through the Ramblers website or app and you can join a walk with any group. You also have the benefits of social events & holidays with your home group.
Q: How are you different from the other Kent Ramblers Groups
A: We are aimed at a slightly younger age profile than other groups, our average age is 58 vs the Kent Average of 75. Unlike other groups we do not have a specific post code area which is why we get few members directly from the Ramblers website. The Ramblers membership website will allocate you automatically to your local group unless you select West Kent Walking Group
We also arrange socials and holidays more suited to our age profile. To accommodate people in work we tend to have weekend walks and tend to have longer walks.
